Writing theses and dissertations is a challenging task that many students tread. It is because they are supposed to have a grasp of the methods they used to come up with the variables, how well they understood them and how they have managed to get research objective aligned well. It is also true that the methodology writing will determine how the paper will come out and well the writer will defend their position of the paper. What to consider when writing chapter 3 of dissertation/thesis In order to understand how to write a dissertation methodology well, the writer has to be familiar with the research approach they are going to use, the research instruments, and the data analysis approach they are going to use in the research. The dissertation methodology will have to be linked to the literature review so as to have an explanation as to why some methods are being used in the research. Another factor of paramount importance is the need to understand the discipline that one is researching the paper. Different disciplines have different approaches and tools that are used to collect data. It is important to have a recap of the research questions when writing the methodology. It is important to demonstrate that the main objective of writing the methodology section is to answer the research questions or problems. The writer should restate the research questions at the beginning of the research methodology so that it becomes clear what they are trying to research. The research questions need to be word-for-word statement. It could be a way in which the researcher will remind the reader what they are planning to achieve. It is also important to have a description of the method that has been used. Although it forms the gist of the research method, it does not mean that it is the only part. It is this part that the researcher will explain the process that they will used to collect the data and how they will be able to analyze the data. If someone is taking a new framework, then there should be a literary explanation of the new approach so that the readers will be able to understand the new approach that has been used.
