Camera's At The Ready: Amsterdam's Most Photogenic Spots

Travel & Tourism
Tickets? Check. Camera? Check. All that’s left to do now is deciding where you’ll go and what you’ll see on your trip to picturesque Amsterdam. Grab a pen and paper to jot down some of the most photogenic sites in the Netherlands’ capital city, then get ready to capture that perfect shot.

Prinsengracht

Begin your journey to Amsterdam’s most photo-worthy destinations with a visit to Prinsengracht, one of the most popular canals in the city. This central canal features all the classic Dutch elements that make the capital so photogenic: gorgeous architecture, plenty of bridges and pretty little boats dotted about. Famous attractions like the Westerkerk and the Anne Frank House can also be found nearby.

Museumplein

No trip to this city is complete without a photo in front of the iconic Iamsterdam sign, the towering set of letters found at the centre of the city’s Museumplein. For some truly stunning photo-ops, the square’s Conservatorium Hotel and Concertgebouw are great examples of Holland’s early modern architecture. This area also houses many of the city’s most popular tourist attractions, including the Van Gogh Museum, Stedelijk Museum and Rijksmuseum.

Hortus Botanicus

For some contrast to the bustling, bicycle-filled streets of Amsterdam, don’t miss this picturesque nursery that houses over 6,000 different types of tropical plants. Built in the seventeenth century, Hortus Botanicus is a must-see for nature lovers and photographers alike.

Magere Brug

Visitors looking for something romantic can take their cameras over to the Magere Brug. This bridge across the river Amsel is always full of couples and has a reputation for being the most romantic spot in the whole city. It’s easy to see why, especially when the bridge’s arches light up and are reflected in the water at night.

A’DAM Toren

This unique-looking building opened in 2016 and has already received great reviews from Amsterdam’s many visitors. Take a trip to the top floor – an impressive 80 metres high – and snap a selfie on Europe’s tallest swing. The jaw-dropping panoramic views of the city are not to be missed.

NDSM-Werf

Wander away from the charming canals for a moment to capture the gritty industrial vibes at NDSM-Werf. An old shipping yard, this cultural hub offers riverside views, outdated manufacturing equipment and graffiti galore.

How to Get There

Make the most of your holiday by flying direct to the city. To get to central Amsterdam, airport transport options can be booked in advance to avoid waiting around after your flight. By pre-booking before you get to Amsterdam Airport, transport options can be arranged to take you straight to your accommodation so you can get out into the city as quickly as possible.

It’s no secret that Amsterdam is one of the most photogenic cities in Europe – maybe even the world. Whether you use your camera to spotlight the charming Dutch canals, capture some of the city’s industrial grit at NDSM-Werf or see it all from the top of the A’DAM Toren, there really is something for every photographer. Book your Amsterdam Airport transport today and prepare for the adventure of a lifetime.
