Ski, Eat, Party, Repeat! The Perfect Day in La Rosiere

Travel & Tourism,Sports
There are few things better for a holiday with friends than skiing. It offers the chance to do everything from throwing yourself down challenging slopes, to exploring off-piste areas to dancing, drinking and meeting new friends in the famous ‘apres-ski’ atmosphere.

If this sounds like something you’d enjoy, you should definitely try out the excellent alpine resort of La Rosiere. Catered chalets, a well connected lift network and some great nightlife make this French destination a true must-visit for winter sports fans looking for a fun time.

Read on for our guide on things to do to enjoy the perfect day there.

On the Slopes

With 150km of piste, including 23 blue runs, 32 red and six black, the resort is perfect for skiers of all abilities. Wide slopes and easy cruising sections are common to many of the blue runs in the Secteur Rosiére, but there’s also a snow park and some slalom runs for those who want to test their skills.

Even better, though, an Espace San Bernardo lift pass allows you to explore an expanded area stretching over the Italian border. But beginners beware: there’s a lot of pretty tough skiing here. It’s hugely rewarding for intermediates and experts, though, and you can also enjoy a range of excellent off-piste opportunities in the area.

Top Tip: Explore the new Mont Valaisan area (opened in 2018), which offers a great chance to tackle higher and more challenging runs on the French side of the border.

Eating Out

One of the best things about staying in a La Rosiere catered chalet is how much time it frees up to enjoy the slopes. Still, even the best chalet food can get a little ‘samey’ over the course of a week or so, and holidaymakers usually like to eat out at least once or twice. With that in mind, it’s handy to know a few of the area’s best eateries.

If you need a bit of convincing to tempt you out on a cold night, you can’t find much better than Le Turia for reasonably priced gourmet cooking. If you just want to pick up something quick and easy, on the other hand, the resort also has you covered with takeaway places, including the mid-range La Grange, Eat Fusion and Le Skifood.

Finally, it’s also worth noting some of the mountain restaurants around La Rosiere. Catered chalets offer a great service, and most will make you sandwiches to take out on the slopes, but if you want something hot and hearty to break up the skiing, we can recommend the sundeck at La Traversette, and Lo Riondo Refugio on the Italian side.

Awesome Apres

After a long day’s skiing, with some good food in your belly what else is there to do but hit the bars? Although it’s smaller and less well known than nearby Val d’Isére, the resort still punches well above its weight when it comes to its nightlife.

Head to the Arpin Bar for a quiet drink in a warm environment, then if you’re still raring to go, get yourself to the Moonbar Nightclub to dance the night away.

For something a bit different, the themed nights and live music at Le Petit Danois are always popular.

Where to Stay

To make the most of your time away without needing to worry about cooking, book a stay in a La Rosiere catered chalet. There’s a great range of options, with many located right at the centre of the action, near bars for the nights before and ski lifts for the mornings after.

Feeling tempted for a fun-filled ski trip? Why not set some dates and book up now?
