THE GREAT INDIAN BATTLE (Baba Ramdeva V’s Bill Gates) “Around 2.2 million Americans and half a million British might die of Covid-19.” That was the dire prediction released on 16th March 2020 by Neil Ferguson from Vaccine Impact Modelling Consortium (VIMC) at London’s Imperial College They also predicted that if there was absolute social distancing for the entire population, the death toll in USA could be cut in half but still between 1.1 million to 1.46 million Americans would die by this summer.This prediction understandably ignited a world-wide hysteria. Well, the summer has already arrived and the death rate is only around 16% of the hyper-estimated deaths in USA and around 17% for UK. The Imperial College’s forecast appears to be an exercise in mathematical sorcery rather than pragmatic modelling. A necessary corollary of the study was implicit blind reliance on lockdowns, social distancing and vaccinations. Bill Gates who has a long-standing umbilical relationship with Vaccine Industry advocated draconian lockdowns and proclaimed normalcy could never return until a vaccine was developed and 7 billion people worldwide got vaccinated. Incidentally Imperial College itself is being financed by Bill Gates since several years. Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF) has donated $ 185 million to Imperial College till 2018. Bill Gates regularly sponsors studies for mathematical model designing relating to virology at Imperial College. (Source: https://www.gatesfoundation.org) There are proven alternate ways of combating Covid-19 by boosting human body’s natural immunity without vaccines but these are presently being dismissed as primitive and unscientific. It is like a doctor insisting that Vitamin D should only be absorbed through medicines and not from nature’s gifted sunlight. There is a great hidden battle going across the Indian subcontinent----the battle between Baba Ramdeva V’s Bill Gates and their clashing medico-health philosophies. It will have a far-reaching impact on health of Indians. On 23rd June 2020 Baba Ramdev hosted a TV conference in which he launched Ayurvedic product “CORONIL” developed after months of research for Covid-19. A clinical case study cum trial was undertaken on 280 positive Indian patients with 100% favourable results. Surprisingly within just hours of product-launch, the Indian government swung into action and Health Ministry(Ayush) brusquely ordered Patanjali to cancel advertising and halt Coronil’s marketing immediately. Why did Ayush Ministry react with such a frenzy? The main reason stated for government action is that 100% success claimed by Baba Ramdeva is highly exaggerated and cannot be upheld. That is quite fair. However if Coronil does not have 100% cure rate but say 80% or even 60%, it is nevertheless an achievement. The Allopathic acclaimed medicines such as dexamethasone, Remdesvir, Favipiravir etc have a low patient recovery rate well below 40% and are still approved by Indian Council of Medical Research. (ICMR). ICMR has recently declared that vaccines with even 50% efficacy might be approved. This smacks of double standard as Coronil is ignored despite higher efficacy. Medical Pundits have also opined that in Coronil’s trials, proper protocol was not followed and this nullifies Patanjali’s claims. This is a blatantly unfair charge considering that all historically prescribed medical protocols for Covid-19 vaccine development have been summarily discarded by Big Pharma with the blessings of governments.“ A VACCINE USUALLY TAKES MORE THAN 10YEARS TO DEVELOP AND COSTS UPTO $ 500 MILLION.” (source:https://www.weforum.org/agenda/2020/06/vaccine-development-barriers-coronavirus/). Of this, Phase 3 in clinical development itself normally takes 2-4 years and final regulatory review and approval takes 1-2 years. (www.weforum.org). Obviously if a period for reliable vaccine development is honestly around 10 years, it cannot be abnormally compressed to one year by any stretch of crooked logic. President Trump has launched Operation Warp Speed to rush 300 million doses of vaccines with an eye to forthcoming US elections.. In past similar attempts to rush vaccines have caused disasters. For example during the Swine Flu outbreak in USA in1976 (a presidential election year), President Ford announced a hasty target of one million vaccinations per day for winter. Within weeks, the whole immunization program back-fired. Ignorant citizens who rushed to receive the vaccine developed Guillain-Barre syndrome which causes paralytic disability. As per CDC, the prevalence of Guillain-Barre syndrome was four times higher among recipients of this swine flu vaccine than in the general population. After this fiasco, the vaccine was abruptly withdrawn. No wonder many thoughtful Americans today are opposed to Covid-19 vaccination. As per Reuters/Ipsos poll published on 21st May 2020 , “ A quarter of Americans say they will NOT take a coronavirus vaccine. 40% thought it would be more risky than the disease itself.” This reaction is strikingly similar to that of our Father of Nation Mahatma Gandhi who was not only distrustful but a scathing critic of vaccinations. The biggest score of Ayurvedic remedies is that they pose no health threats unlike even well conceived vaccines that can cause adverse side-effects. Will Covid-19 vaccines have fatal side-effects? Bill Gates himself confessed in a CNBC interview that there would be SIDE- EFFECTS FROM COVID-19 VACCINES RESULTING IN SUFFERING for 700000 people worldwide considering 1 case in 10000 nos.(Source:https://www.cnbc.com/video/2020/04/09/watch-cnbcs-full-inerview-with-microsoft-co-founder-bill-gates-on-past-pandemic-warnings.html). This implies around 130000 cases in India resulting in serious disabilities. This should certainly ring an alarm bell. However the real danger is that this figure itself could be a gross understatement. Our past experience with Bill Gates aided vaccine programs in India does not inspire confidence as there have been several debacles. For example a bold article highlighting a vaccination disaster was published in The Economic Times (31ST Aug. 2014) by Kumar P Narayan titled “Controversial vaccine studies: Why is Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation under fire from critics in India?” As reported by Mr. Narayan, US organization PATH conducted HPV vaccination program funded by BMGF in 2009 on about 16000 tribal girls in Khammam (Telangana) and 14000 girls in Gujarat. Soon many girls started falling ill; five girls died in Khammam and two died in Vadodara. The matter was investigated by the women’s health NGO “SAMA” who reported ”120 girls experienced adverse reactions such as epileptic seizures, severe stomach aches, headaches and mood swing.There were also cases of early onset of menstruation following the vaccination, heavy bleeding and severe menstrual cramps among many students.” Shockingly, not a single girl was warned about the dreadful adverse-effects. As a result, V.Rukmini Rao and other activists filed a writ petition in the Supreme Court who took a very serious view and chastised the Drug Controller and ICMR for their utter negligence. Importantly, the above vaccines were approved by western health agencies. They were not made in a rush unlike Covid-19 vaccines being made today. Yet they caused such a havoc. The vaccine’s adverse side-effect rate and death rate based on population of 30000 nos is 0.4% and 0.02333% respectively. This translates into a staggering side-effect figure of 52 lac and 303000 deaths if a similar fatality rate were to occur in Covid-19 vaccination on 1.3 billion Indians. The actual lethality might differ but it is high time Indian government educated its citizens about vaccine related hazards instead of drawing an iron curtain upon such subjects. It cannot adopt the dismissive attitude of Bill Gates and treat such disasters as inconsequential. Earlier, the general impression was that Covid-19 vaccine would be a simple affair with assured lifelong protection. However Bill Gates revealed this unpalatable fact some months ago that a single dose vaccine may not suffice, “We may need a multi-dose vaccine to get enough efficacy”. (Source: https://www.gatesnotes.com) Later on 6th July 2020 at NIH Q & A session,Dr. Anthony Fauci was forced to confess,"We don't know how long COVID-19 antibody protection lasts” he said “For all we know, any protection provided by the vaccine could be "transitory."It means that immunity offered by Covid vaccine declines rapidly within a few months and so multi-doses will be needed every year. The 1.3 billion Indians can thus look forward to queuing up every few months for endless rounds of vaccinations. In August, WHO director-general Tedros Ghebreyesus finally conveyed a dose of bitter truth. As reported by TOI on 4th Aug.2020, “WHO warned on Monday that there might never be a ‘Silver Bullet’ in the form of a perfect vaccine and that the road to normality would be long with some countries requiring a reset of strategy.” Well, what better reset of strategy can be there for Indian government than going forth aggressively to approve Ayurvedic products like Coronil as remedies and distribute them in India over the next few months? The largest manufacturer Serum Institute’s CEO Mr. Poonawala expects to roll out vaccine commercially only in late 2021 (Source:TOI’s Ahmedabad Mirror publication 2nd Aug.2020). After arrival of vaccines, it takes months to handle logistics.Even at an optimistic 2.5 million vaccinations per day, it will take 17 months to vaccinate 1.3 billion people. And long before the first round of vaccination is over, the rounds of 2nd/3rd dose would be overdue owing to rapid decline in anti-bodies. Instead of making India drift aimlessly for 17 months, the Indian government can rush distributing Ayurvedic formulations based on Coronil or its equivalent. Lately, the government has softened its stand on Ayurvedic products and allowed it to be employed in a limited way for “Management of Covid.” The government however needs to come out of its biased mind-set which still regards Ayurveda as a sort of grandma’s kitchen remedy..It should select a panel of top 30 Ayurvedic companies and standardize an Ayurvedic formulation based on common ingredients to have it adopted by all suppliers. It should approve this formulation unambiguously for both medically preventive as well as curative applications. It can negotiate a common economical procurement price and commence bulk procurement and distribution. The government already has an ummatched infrastructure for public distribution covering 1.01 billion Indians under Ration Programme through 550000 ration shops. Earlier, many vaccines have been administered free in India. Ayurvedic formulations likewise could be distributed free or at subsidised rates to poor BPL card holders. A nationwide exercise in this manner will boost not just immunity but also the overall health of Indians. Infact most Indians may thereafter not need vaccines at all and the entire nation would be on a move with normalcy restored even before mass vaccines arrive. Can the above truly novel approach to Novel Corona succeed? Definitely yes. PM Modi often chants, “JAHA CHAH WAHA RAHA.”(meaning: where there is a will, there is a way) The Modi government has demonstrated an admirable will in promoting Gates Foundation’s vaccine programs. It has pledged millions of dollars to support Gates’ GAVI at Vaccines Summit in June 2020.It can succeed in this Ayurveda based project if it proceeds with similar determination. The Ayurvedic industry is not begging for alms from government. All it demands is a level playing field. So the battle across Indian subcontinent continues between Baba Ramdeva V’s Bill Gates and their conflicting health systems. It is a fight between David and Goliath and David is losing. Afterall he is fighting Goliath with both hands tied behind his back. It is now upto the Indian government to unshackle him. Will Indian government do so? India demands an answer.
