Every Sunday, in churches across the nation, the faithful go to worship and hear the voices of angels from the choir box. Those that dedicate their time to polishing their singing and igniting the faith of worshippers on a weekly basis often get little more than an occasional nod of thanks. Now, there’s a chance for them to earn some major kudos for their talent and efforts at the How Sweet the Sound competition. The event asks churches across the country to submit videos of their own choirs performing. The choirs are entered into one of two categories: Small (for choirs of six to 35 people) and Big (for choirs of 36 to 100 people). They’re performances are voted on online at a local level. The winners go on to a regional competition, and on up until they finally are singing praise at the Grand Finale round. The winners of each round can earn thousands of dollars in monetary awards, but the winner of the whole competition will take $25,000 home with them. The best part? You can be in the audience!
