Revolution is what’s going on in his native Czechoslovakia, but it worries him: The Russians have invaded, and the country is becoming Communist. Max, an old English professor, supports the Communists, despite the increasingly strict rules they impose. Esme, a hippie chick, is just happy so long as the drugs keep flowing. But between Jan and Max, a war of ideologies builds. The music of rock ‘n’ roll—of liberation and the fulfillment of life—fuels Jan in his rebellion against the communist regime. What’s been such a major draw for audiences has been the musicals amazing soundtrack, featuring some of the most popular bands from the late ‘60s and early ‘70s. The music of the Rolling Stones, Velvet Underground, Pink Floyd, Syd Barrett and John Lennon are all heard during this exciting production.
