If you’re looking for Coldplay tickets, you can find them at StubHub.com. The music of Coldplay is ubiquitous today, with each new release from the band earning them more acclaim. Their latest release, Viva La Vida! Or, Death and All His Friends, shot up to the top of the Billboard charts upon its release, eventually turning platinum with nearly two million copies sold. The band has been warmly embraced by the public since debuting in 2000. They have had their detractors, but overall the band is recognized as one of the biggest rock acts in the world. The band formed in 1998, with a lineup consisting of Christ Martin on vocals and guitar, Will Chapmion on drums, Guy Berryman on bass and Jon Buckland on guitar. Martin’s friend Phil Harvey is considered a fifth member of the group, and serves as their manager. After meeting in college in 1996, they formed the band, borrowing their name from another group who didn’t want to use it anymore (they found it too depressing). Not long after playing a Manchester festival for unsigned bands, they acquired a contract and released several well-received EPs. Parachutes was released in 2000, with the single "Yellow" becoming a hit in the U.K. and America. Comparisons to both Travis and Radiohead abounded, the latter a criticism sparked largely by a similarity in the vocal style of Martin and Radiohead’s Thom Yorke. Two years later, they released A Rush of Blood to the Head, which made them international superstars. The record was largely propelled by the singles "Clocks," "The Scientist" and "In My Place," all of which became inescapable on the air waves. A follow-up, X&Y, was given a lukewarm reception by critics, but that didn’t stop the record from selling 8 million copies in its first year. The band followed up by working with legendary producer and electronic artist Brian Eno, issuing Viva La Vida! in 2008. A fifth album is due in December 2009, but you don’t have to wait until then to see the band on tour. Coldplay tickets are on sale and being snapped up by eager fans right now!
