Kanye West tickets are now available and can be bought or sold online at StubHub.com. What else would you expect from a guy who has been represented as a muppet running in the Olympics in his videos? Kanye West brought his fans yet another quirky music video Oct. 7 for his great new song "Love Lockdown." The curious twist was that instead of debuting the music video for the song on a show on MTV, he picked another audience entirely—that of suburban moms. West debuted the music on Ellen, comedian Ellen Degeners’ afternoon talk show. It often seems like there isn’t a person alive who doesn’t enjoy Kanye’s music, but the viewers of Ellen are the first people you think of in terms of West’s fanbase. Regardless, the video seemed to bowl over the audience, as well as Ellen herself. It features West dressed in an all white outfit lounging in a similarly all white room. It’s impeccably clean and tasteful without having much character. It may take you a few moments, but it looks suspiciously like the apartment of homicidal yuppie Patrick Bateman in American Psycho. Even the furniture appears to be covered with cloth to keep blood from ruining the upholstery. Why did Kanye West decide on modeling the apartment after American Psycho? He told Ellen that he embodies Patrick Bateman in the video. "You know at the end of the movie, he didn't really kill anyone. [I liked] the clean aesthetic and the way he was all about labels. I wanted to express all of that in the video," West said. The meaning behind the rest of the video isn’t as clear. After a while, African tribesman are shown, as well as a large, glowing spaceship. It’s all rather surreal, but you’re better off not questioning the dream logic behind this video and just enjoying the great song. This article was written by Andrew Good and sponsored by StubHub.
