Having a good list is vitally important to the success of any online business. But you don’t need a list of a million people to be successful. The quality of your list is much more important than the number of people on it. If you compare the performance of a list containing 10,000 and getting a one eighth percent response rate with a with list of 1,000 getting a three percent response, you’ll see that the list of 1,000 makes almost three times as much money as the larger list.

With that being said, it is much more important that you focus on the quality of your list as opposed to the quantity of your list. So, how do you do this? Following are 4 key factors to help you generate big profits with a small list.

Focus on a Single Niche. Do not try to be all things to all people. Target your marketing efforts to a single area. If you target 20 different subjects and develop a list of 10,000 subscribers, each subject will only contain 500 interested members (on average) in your list. Most of your list will have no interest in 95% of the emails you send out. And this will result in massive numbers of people who quickly unsubscribe. Therefore, the more focused you are on a single topic, the more actual buyers you can capture (and keep).

Emphasize the information you provide instead of the freebies you offer on your squeeze page. This mistake is a very common one. Newbies, in particular, focus on their freebies to attract subscribers. This often leads to people opting-in simply to get the freebies and not on the information provided by your program. Therefore, avoid focusing too much attention on your freebies.

Constantly giving away freebies is also a mistake that many marketers make. By giving away too many freebies, you will soon have a list of nothing more than freebies seekers and not actual buyers.

Build a strong relationship with your list. Write your emails as though you are sending something to a good friend. This builds a good relationship with your subscribers and makes them more comfortable with you. By establishing a good relationship, your subscribers are more likely to open your emails and buy the products that you recommend.

However, you do not need to worry about freebies seekers because they are not going to hurt. All you need is to constantly build relationship with your list and you will be able to convert a certain percentage of freebies seekers to actual buyers. Make it easy and convenient for your subscribers to respond. Test all of your links and make sure that they are clickable and work as intended.
