So, it’s important for them. But, it really isn’t due to any fat burning qualities. It is beneficial for type II diabetes, because it seems to improve insulin sensitivity and insulin production. Scientific evaluation has also shown that some or all of the green tea antioxidants have anti-inflammatory activity. In animal studies, they have been shown to prevent arthritis. Inflammation also plays a role in cancer. So, catechins and gallic acid perform a variety of different functions that are beneficial, especially when it comes to cancer prevention.
