There is the call to prayer in the moment but sometimes the idea becomes that the answer or the real moment is somewhere far off in the distance and maybe can only be achieved by further prayer or persistent prayer that somehow will finally bring a wanted breakthrough. And there is maybe something to be said for accumulated prayer efforts. But prayer is a relationship that is also in the moment. And this is a good thing because that moment is a shelter from all else that ails. Whether it be troubled thoughts about the wider world, or about personal issues as they go forward down the road, a prayer moment isolates to the presence of the Lord in prayer regardless of all else. The presence of the Lord can be found in this very moment of prayer and all your troubles can be cast to the care of the Lord in this moment. Nothing from the outer world has to impinge on this moment. A key to entering a moment in prayer, is actually thanking the Lord for this moment, that in this moment he is present. Psalm 100 verse 4 admonishes us to enter his gates with thanksgiving. Invisible gates are passed through with the act of thanksgiving and the invisible gate in the moment to pass through is thanking the Lord for this moment and for his help in this moment. You may lack all sorts of means, financial, physical, overall knowledge. You may be in remote lands, in remote places, or even remote places in your own heart and soul that you yourself don’t quite comprehend or fully understand. But in this moment you can reach to the Lord and seek and find in prayer, not only for yourself but also for many others, even in faraway places, and for those in need of intercessions right now. Anything that is of prayer can be unlocked, like an unlocked gate in this very moment within the relationship of prayer with the Lord and the entranceway of thanksgiving. Continue to thank the Lord for this moment and proceed through the gate to your request both small and large, both near and afar, both for yourself and others. In Philippians Chapter 4 it says, Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! 5 Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. 6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. These verses speak of the nearness of the Lord in this moment, approached with thanksgiving and transcending understanding with guards for both your heart and mind as you are in this prayer moment. Nearness mentioned in these verses in closely related to the word immediate and this word is used more than 40 times in the Gospel of Mark. Immediate or immediately is used throughout the gospel of Mark indicating that whatever was going to happen was close at hand, or right at hand, and therefore right in the moment. The word immediate is indeed an exhortation to heed and be in the moment. In this gospel for example, healings were immediate. Your prayers can intervene with immediacy. Prayer in the moment is something to cherish, to seek, to bring near and into reality. Anxiousness should not be applied but in everything prayer should be applied and that is where the guard is, for your heart and mind, and where human understanding is transcended. Human understanding is limited and is only surpassed in prayer with thanksgiving. All the collective understanding in all of the history of the world cannot begin to match the transcendence of understanding that can be found in the prayer moment. So this moment is secured as far as understanding and should be sought in all matters especially with the surrounding of difficulties.
