In today’s competitive sales environment there’s still the very real opportunity to make money selling on eBay. But as eBay buyers become even more informed and cautious in their purchasing sellers must get it right when it comes to identifying the right niche, products and pricing strategy. While there are few opportunities to step in a make sales without doing the research and investigations, this is not the time to count on luck to carry you through. This is the time to conduct the right research, to locate reliable product suppliers and to purchase products for resale at rock bottom prices.

If your goal is to make money selling on eBay, your business model needs to include the investment of more upfront time. Spend the time to research the niche and products you plan to sell. You’ll also want to spend time learning the eBay site and the seller tools available to you. Try making a few small purchases to gain some confidence and to understand the experience of buying on eBay.

Locate dependable products suppliers who are willing to sell to you at pennies on the dollar. Once you’ll researched your market niche and the products you’ll use to make money selling on eBay and you are happy with the results, it’s time to start your search for the right product suppliers. For many the search does take time. There are shortcuts such as purchasing directories and joining membership sites focused on potential suppliers. Trade shows and even online searches can also be an excellent source of potential suppliers.

Use extreme caution when considering a new product supplier for your business. Investigate and interview those companies you are considering. Be sure to thoroughly investigate all potential suppliers before ever spending money to purchase products for resale. Don’t forget to verify you’ll actually make money selling on eBay before committing to a large order

Complete one or two sample orders to make sure prospective wholesale suppliers and manufacturers can perform to the agreed levels of pricing, customer service and delivery. Accept nothing less than your agreement states. Don’t compromise just because you thought you had found the supplier of the future for your eBay company. After all, with pricing being so critical, the only way you can make money selling on eBay is by ensuring your suppliers deliver to their commitment.
