Raymond Anthony Fernando is a part-time writer, poet, motivational speaker, trainer, songwriter, mental health activist, regular forum page contributor to the newspapers and a freelance television actor. The best-selling author has written a total of 13 books.
Raymond's novel “Loving a schizophrenic” which details the true account of his wife's battle with schizophrenia and depression has sold 4,000 copies.
In his role as a television actor, Raymond has acted as a defence lawyer on two occasions in the popular local TV series, “TRUE FILES”. He has also appeared on television on seven occasions to speak about his role as a caregiver to his wife Doris Lau who is coping well with schizophrenia. These include appearing as a guest on the women’s TV talk show, “ROUGE”, on the docudrama, “Behind closed doors”, “Get Rea!”, “I-Journalist”, “Talking Point” and most recently “Asia Exposed”. Mediacorp's radio stations have also interviewed Raymond on 8 occasions regarding the challenges he faces in caring for his wife who was stricken with schizophrenia at the tender age of 17.
