Author Comment / Biography: Lorenzo Saavedra, born January 14th, 1984 in San Francisco, CA is a passionate writer. Lorenzo grew up with his mother in the Eureka Heights neighborhood and believes that growing up bi-culturally (American and Colombian) had a profound impact on his writing. Lorenzo spent his childhood moving back and forth between California and Colombia, at times living with his mother and other times living with his father in Bogotá. Lorenzo speaks Spanish, English, Italian, and some Arabic and considers it his passion to learn languages (and this also gives him an excuse to travel!)
In 2002 Lorenzo made the move to Miami to attend the University of Miami and graduated with Latin honors studying Journalism and Economics. During his time in university he wrote about the Cuban-American population and their incorporation into mainstream American society. When asked what he misses most about Florida he says, “the beach, the ambience, and the energy that the people have”.
Today Lorenzo splits his time between working as a freelance journalist and travelling. Lorenzo loves to write about diverse subjects: political commentaries, criticisms of fiction/movies, social issues, companies and corporations. His writing is concise, insightful, and pleasant. These same qualities are likely derived from that Lorenzo’s personality.
When asked what his favorite thing to write about is, he says, “definitely social issues. Sure, while reporting on a new fictional book or a company is insightful writing about social issues has the potential to spur a social change”. When asked what goals he has for his publications he stated, “I strive to write articles that are insightful, profound, and entertaining”.
