Portable scanners are extremely important for the traveling businessman. Office equipment cannot be brought along while traveling for business meetings or corporate functions. However, portable scanners are small enough to fit in a back pack and can be brought anywhere. The convenience of portable scanners has made a huge impact on business owners and even the larger corporate world. Paper work can be scanned on the scene with portable scanners. In certain cases, paper work may be needed immediately. Portable scanners allow paper work to be scanned, formatted on a pc and then sent to remote locations. This eliminates snail mail and businessmen can send important documents to their office without ever mailing them or personally transporting them. Corporate meetings may pass out flyers or other materials that will need to be updated at the home office. These documents are scanned with scanners and then sent to the office. Signatures also can be scanned with portable scanners and sent to remote locations as well. This convenience saves time and money. Scanners can either be in the form of a handheld bar shaped object or a small platform no wider than a large book. The handheld version scans paperwork by moving it over the area that needs to be scanned. Larger thin shaped scanners work by scanning the area with its own mechanical moving parts. Some scanners will need to be plugged into the wall while others run off of batteries. Portable scanners can also be charged up in some models, much like a laptop. Another type of portable scanners on the market are the ones the physically run the documents through the scanner. These are also extremely portable and can be transported anywhere. If you're on a business trip and you need access to the printer or scanner in your office, you'll have full access with portable scanners.
