Head coach of the Zambia national soccerteam Herve Renard has taken a swipe at some senior governmentofficials over poor travel arrangements which contributed to histeam's 0-2 humiliating defeat at the hands of Sudan on Saturday, the Zambia Daily Mail reported on Monday. The African champions were outplayed by Sudan in the 2014 World Cupqualifier game as they failed to play their smooth flowing footballwhich earned them African glory during the 2012 Africa Cup ofNations co-hosted by Gabon and Equatorial Guinea. But the Frenchman, upon arrival on Sunday, said some seniorofficials in the ministry of sports behaved 'unprofessionally' inthe manner they handled the national team's travel arrangements toSudan. "In football, you have to be professional, we are notprofessionals, we are amateurs. And me.. I hate to work like this, and I won't continue to work like this if some people do not wantto work with a professional like me. And it is not an excusebecause I complained a lot about this before the game," he wasquoted as saying by the paper. The team, which was camped for two weeks in South Africa, hadtravel problems and by Wednesday last week, the team was not awareof any travel arrangements to Sudan while the players did notreceive their daily allowance during the training camp, Daily Mailsaid. According to the paper, the late confirmation of the team'sdeparture to Sudan pushed the Frenchman into a tight corner to setup a strategy. The team arrived in Khartoum on Thursday night, trained the following day before taking on the Sudanese insweltering temperatures on Saturday night. "Now, we call for everyone that they must respect us, I spokebefore the game, it was better I spoke about our traveling. I cansee some people don't want to work with us a lot," he added. But the Frenchman admitted that his team did not win as they playedsecond fiddle. "Yes we lost because we did not play well, the conditions were verydifficult but we knew before. It was very very hot, the pitch wasnot very good and we played against a team that was better thanus," he said. Zambia now lies third in Group D after the loss which is led byGhana who thumped Lesotho 7-0 on Friday while Sudan is second.Zambia will play Ghana this Saturday at the new Chinese-built40,000-seater Levy Stadium in Ndola city on the Copperbeltprovince.
