Are you having trouble with your internet speed? Well, get a load of this. While the United States regards its citizens and their internet usage as something that needs heavily spying on and wanting to decide what can be accessed, they have an exclusive technology that allows data transfer to different locations at the speed of 100 gigabits a second! It has been called the shadow internet created by Energy Sciences Network (E.S Net). To top things the Department of Energy will extend this technology to a number of cities including government links between Washington, Boston, New York and across the Atlantic to London, Amsterdam and Geneva: The download abilities between these planned links will be 340 gigabits per second. Does this transfer speed sound staggering to you? To put another way, in layman's terms, as explained by Extreme Tech, during November 2013 ES Net's technology achieved a disk to disk download transfer the same speed as transferring around 11 movies in just only one second at a distance of 1,700 miles! This was the fastest long distance data transfer ever recorded. But what about the people the government supposed to be serving? Why should they keep this amazing technology to themselves, while the people they should be serving have to put up with much, much slower speeds? Besides the government, the internet service providers are not doing much to change these slower speeds. Instead, they're just trying ways to work out how they can make as much money as possible, keeping all the toys to themselves as some of us struggle with our speeds... In the meantime there's Time-Warner and Comcast, two already too big for their boots corporations talking of merging. Monopolies of this size should be outlawed. The Department of Justice is looking into it with the knowledge that if the corporations did emerge the new corporation to come out of this would have reasons to make the internet slower as a way of controlling and making more money. The merger proposal should have been flatly rejected at Washington but instead some progress has been made towards making it happen. -All this while the US government offers these incredible data transfer speeds to its buddies in high places in the USA and the other side of the Atlantic. To Summarize This is yet another confirmation that the government's main priority is service to itself and indeed on this occasion care of the shadow internet.
