“ADVENTURES OF AKEEM” is a hilarious comedy series based on the escapades of a randy African immigrant in New York City. Designed to celebrate interpersonal relationships between individuals from contrasting cultural backgrounds, it satirizes the often-dramatic integration of immigrants into host communities. Played by STEVE SHOW, Akeem’s overtly expressive desire and actions often time lead to disaster but he is completely helpless in a world full of so many gorgeous irresistible women. A collaborative venture between Royalty Films, USA and Teewai-Gold Productions, Nigeria, it is produced by Steve Show, cast by Okema T. Moore; written and directed by Tope Idowu. It features leading acts like Quadiri Bolare, Chasity Saunders, Katie Mack, Osas Ighodaro, Anthony Avella, Lawrence Sharp, Ashton Clay, Robert McCall (Little Bob), Brianna Seagraves, Jasmin Gabrielle, Ciello Villa and child actor, Messiah Lockett. "“Adventures of Akeem” is a sitcom about a self-indulgent, naïve yet loveable Nigerian who is maximizing the American experience…even if his results are minimal at best. Akeem believes that he’s a ladies man, and lives his life at the direction of the “little head” more times than not. Due to his libido lead actions, he finds himself in one precarious situation after another. “Adventures of Akeem” stars actor/writer and co-creator, Steve Show. The comedy goes beyond the usual caricature of the Nigerian/American experience that is commonly played out on the large and small screen, while still maintaining a comedic edge. The show also provides a level of edu-tainment to the audience through Akeem’s learned lessons. With the intent to dispel the stereotypes associated with Nigerian film and television (a.k.a. Nollywood), the show’s Director and additional co-creator, accomplished Nigerian writer/director Tope Idowu was adamant about the creation of a quality project. “Adventures of Akeem” is well written, shot using high-quality equipment to achieve top notch visual fidelity, featuring superb story lines. Actors are carefully chosen to sufficiently satisfy even the smallest roles and are played by some of the best and brightest up-and-comers and a few well known faces. “Adventures of Akeem” will begin with a set of four filmed episodes in New York City. It will be filmed in the US for authenticity of environment, but heavily laced with products and language from the creator’s native land, Nigeria. This approach provides international exposure for the actors involved as well as commerce opportunities for Nigerian companies to advertise and/or have their products placed.
