We are nourished by our nature as well as invaded by her sometimes. Due to the vulnerable geographical location; our southern part; especially the south-western part of our country had been washed away by various chronic natural disasters. Still its aftermaths are clearly seen there. Recently i have visited a village called Dakshin-Bedkashi; situated at the prime edge of the South-western Bangladesh. It is the most remote union of Khulna district. My purpose of going there was only wandering along with my camera. I heard about the integrated beauty of that place; which overwhelmingly unifies the hypnotizing mystery of the Sundarban and the plebeian livelihood of the village inhabitants. Once the village was full of green and people lived there were nurtured by the divine flora and fauna of nature. However, nature cursed them by giving a demonic disaster called ‘AILA’ in 2009. It had sucked all of the beautiful extracts of South-western villages of the Khulna division. What I have seen there; were barren landscape decorated by lean electric pillars, beheaded date trees and dire straight passages. It seemed like a desolate mother who lost her only child. The whole livelihood of that village is engulfed by an avalanche of sorrows. When I walked through the only village Bazaar; I had talked with several aged people of that village. I had seen an everlasting despair in their eyes polished by a pretended hope. The little children were rambling here and there, but they didn’t aware of their destiny ahead. Their sun burnt innocent faces were full of impeccable ecstasy. They are happy with their little expectation. They don’t need a Play-Station to get relieve from monotony. Their only demand is to get a sufficient 3-times meal a day. There I realized one thing that there is a cruel livelihood difference among the riches and poors in our country as well as every 3rd world countries indeed. I heartily wished I could make a better future of those innocent faces. They are the real survivors of this Hi-Tech age. Technical advantages made a little difference in their survival; the only thing makes them alive is the eternal hope of their spotless mind! It was my lifetime experience hanging out with those beautiful peoples. I salute them with all of my solicitude. I passed a night there on the rooftop of a Cyclone center. There I saw the sky with a different taste with eyes open and suddenly a poetic mind aroused inside me. Some magnet parts of that amateur segment are… ‘I’m hypnotized by the wild breeze; I’m feeling like a kite in the sky; An ancient aroma is being felt by my olfactory; Oh! God, what beautiful magic you have created; The gossips of the Salt-Mans are being heard like secret whispers; The blurry lights of the lean huts are looking like Million fireflies twinkling in the mist’… Sabbir Rahman Khan; Student of Khulna University, Bangladesh
