Cosmetic surgery is a great way to remedy your bodily imperfections that drive you nuts. That being said, some people can go to far with the effort and really get out of control. How do you know that you might have become one of these people? Well, turning to a life of crime to pay for your surgery just might be a sign. Our rather humorous “stupid criminal” of the month is Yvonne Pampellonne. You might have heard of her. She was given the name of the “implant bandit”. She has been sentenced to 160 days in jail because she stole the identity of another woman so she could get credit to have her breast implants replaced as well as get a bit of liposuction done as well. She was charged with identity theft, fraud and a host of claims. Ms. Pampellonne is a rather obvious case of a person who needs to take a reality check. Committing a crime to pay for cosmetic surgery is a serious sign that you need to step back from the mirror and take a deep breath. As obvious as this is, it happens at many levels. One only has to look at reality “star” Stephanie Pratt who admitted to having 10 procedures done in one day. Cosmetic surgery is really intended to fix imperfections in your body. If your nose drives you nuts, you can get it altered. If your ears stick out, you can get them modified. There are any number of procedures for the rest of the body, but that doesn’t mean you should get all of them. First off, it is expensive. Second, there are risks associated with each even if they are small. Third, you need to become comfortable with who you are and not be so concerned with what you “should look like”. Cosmetic surgery serves an important role in modern society, but it isn’t a cure all. Getting your imperfections modified is fine, but just don’t go crazy with it. If you have to commit a crime to pay for a procedure, it is time to reassess in a big way.
