NASCAR moves to Chicago this week for the Lifelock 400 with Jimmie Johnson the 3-1 fave at the online sportsbook in NASCAR auto racing betting. Saturday night's LifeLock.com 400 will mark the conclusion of the first decade of NASCAR Cup racing - and the 3rd night competition - at Chicagoland Speedway. The competition to get into the Chase has tightened so the competition should be intense this week. Four other drivers have probabilities of below 10-1 though Johnson is the fave at the offshore sportsbook. Mark Martin is the defending competition champ, but he's going to have to strive to keep some of these other drivers off his bumper. Sportsbook probabilities list Denny Hamlin as the 5-1 second choice to win Saturday night's competition that can be watched on TNT. Kurt Busch is 9-1 while Kyle Busch and Jeff Gordon are the co-third options at 7-1. When you look at the starting spots for this week's competition do not get too excited by the positions. Including last year's victor Mark Martin, who started 14th, 6 of the last 9 winners of this competition have started outside the leading 10. This is a major week for Martin since he has fallen from the leading 12 in points. There are just 8 contests left before the Chase begins so Martin and other drivers outside the leading 12 need to have a solid week. Kevin Harvick was the victor last week at Daytona and he leads the points competition. He has won at the track in Chicago 2 times and has never finished outside the leading 20. Harvick is still not receiving a ton of esteem at the offshore sportsbook as he has probabilities of 10.5 to 1. But his Chicagoland history is sound-two victories in his first 2 attempts and 5 top-five finishes in 9 starts. Tony Stewart has won at Chicago land 2 times and he has desirable probabilities of 18-1. He has finished in the leading 5 in 6 of his last 7 starts at the track, including three consecutively. Except in 2001 and 2005, he's also led at least one lap in each Chicagoland competition. Jimmie Johnson has never won at Chicago in the Cup Series although he's the fave at the offshore sportsbook. He still has the biggest finishing average in track history nonetheless. A fine longshot this week is Ryan Newman, who has finished in the top 10 in his last three starts at the track, and who has won at Chicago before. Carl Edwards is a driver to stay away from this week. He has a 21.2 finishing average at the track and has finished 20th or worse in three of his 5 starts at Chicago. And do not forget Dale Earnhardt Jr, whose sound Daytona runs have put him on everybody's mind as a contender once again. Led by Kevin Harvick and Tony Stewart with 2 victories each, 6 different drivers have won at Chicago. Kyle Busch won the 2008 race from the pole, the only pole victor to win the race in the 9-year history at Chicago.
