Welcome to San Diego! Now leave! No, just joking. Our city is built for visitors to have a good time, so let’s give a quick run down on the goings on in lovely SD. History The history of San Diego is incredibly interesting. Most of us locals don’t know it. We view the history as being something along the lines of…someone showed up in a wagon, saw the beaches, recognized the surf, broke down the wagon into surfboards and caught some waves. Everything progressed nicely from there. Beaches Are the beaches glorious? Oh, yes! At the moment, you probably think of beaches as, well, beaches. You will soon learn this is not the case. Some beaches are romantic beaches while others are party beaches while others are family beaches while others are not so great to go to. The top destinations are generally considered Del Mar, Pacific Beach and Coronado. Having said that, I’ll end up getting hate mail from locals who feel differently. San Diego Zoo Ah, the world famous San Diego Zoo. Is it world famous? I couldn’t really tell you, but it is one heck of a zoo. Is it a tourist trap? Yes, a bit. Still, it is definitely worth going to. Give it a try. It’ll take a day, but one you’ll be happy with. It is built in a hilly area, so make sure you have comfy sneakers or running shoes on. Professional Sports San Diego has the NFL Chargers and Padres. They are perennial disappointments, but they are OUR disappointments. While we will openly admit they suck, you should not voice similar comments. This is particularly true if you are from Los Angles, Oakland or Denver, three of our biggest rivalries. Crime Is there crime in San Diego? Yes. There is crime in any city. Is it bad in San Diego? No. That being said, use some common sense and you should have absolutely no problems. Keep in mind, however, that was goes in your home town probably goes here too. If you get drunk and drive, the cops will throw you in jail. This is a universal law. People San Diego locals are some of the nicest you will meet in the world. There is only so much angst you can build up when it is 70 degrees every day. You can ask anyone for directions or help and you will get it. Don’t hesitate to. San Diego is a great vacation spot. There’s lot to do, so every trip can be a bit different. See you soon.
