A ceiling fan with light offers a combination between a central lighting source for a room and a stylish method to circulate air inside. Ceiling fans equipped with lights are more common than those without and offer some variety in their lighting fixtures. There are four primary styles to choose from when considering which type of light fixture will be incorporated into the ceiling fan. The ceiling fan with light can use a globe, bowl, branched stems, or an up lighter. The most popular form of lighting fixture on contemporary models of a ceiling fan with light is the globe style. This simulates a more traditional lighting method of most rooms that don't have a ceiling fan in that it uses a single bulb to light the room from a centralized location. The glass for the globe can be either clear or frosted. Clear glass tends to provide a brighter illumination of the room while choosing frosted will usually result in a softer light. Selecting between the two comes down to the size of the room, how much light you want, whether it is the sole lighting source, and personal preference. More traditional or antique styles of the ceiling fan with light tend to use a bowl for their lighting fixture. Instead of the globe, this light is housed inside a removable glass bowl attached to the lighting circuit of the fan. This is similar to a globe in that it requires just the single light bulb in the center and the bowl is also available in either clear or frosted glass. The choice between clear or frosted uses the same parameters as you would when selecting from a ceiling fan that uses a globe for its lighting fixture. Branched stems on a ceiling fan with light allow for more variety than a globe or bowl. This uses three or four adjustable branches that each contains a spotlight bulb. This allows you to angle each of the stems to customize the lighting inside the room. Additionally, many branched stem models that have four branches allow you to turn on either set of two bulbs or all four at once, switching through the choices by pulling the chain or cord. All three of the previous lighting fixtures discussed for a ceiling fan with light have their lights hanging below the fan. Another option to consider is that of an up lighter. This style of lighting fixture houses the light above the fan and allows for a wider, and often softer, illumination of the room. Each style of lighting fixture for a ceiling fan with light comes with its own advantages and offers differing styles of illumination for your chosen room. You should consider the size of the room you are installing the ceiling fan in as well as whether you are trying to create a specific type of atmosphere. Knowing what is available and what your preferences are will help you to make the best choice when shopping for a new ceiling fan with light.
