Choosing the right deck lights for your outdoor space is crucial if you are concerned about creating a theme and ambiance. Bad deck lights or improper light placement can make or break it when it comes to having a patio, deck or balcony that you can relax and enjoy. There are many varieties of deck lights to choose from and finding the one that offers the right amount of light, color and diffusion for your area is important. Deck lights that are too bright or shine right into the eyes of guests in the area can ruin the mood and atmosphere of the evening. While these flood deck lights may be a good option for lighting up sports courts or industrial areas, they can send off harsh unflattering light in more intimate settings. Many experts suggest choosing low level, warm toned and color deck lights scattered throughout the whole area carefully to achieve the right balance. There are many styles of deck lights to choose from, and designers advise using more than one type to achieve a more esthetically pleasing atmosphere. Using too bright or harsh deck lights can also attract unwelcome attention from insects and critters. These unwanted guests can ruin a dinner or party and can become very bothersome. Animals seek shelter where there is light, food and shelter and if you have deck lights that are too bright, your deck or patio may become a hot spot for animals and a disturbance to your party guests. Large flood deck lights are magnets for mosquitos, moths and other bugs, and swarms can quickly form as soon as the sun goes down. If you choose smaller, dimmer lights in more locations you will decrease your chance from such infestations. Solar deck lights have become very popular as the trend for going green has increased in the last few years. While these lights may be a little dimmer than the rest, they are affordable and attractive. These deck lights can save you money on your utility bills and can help you do your part in helping our environment. LED and low voltage deck lights are other ecofriendly options for you to consider when choosing the right lighting. LED deck lights last a long time and rarely need to be changed, and they also usually offer the ability to change the color of the light they emit. LED deck lights last so long that you may never need to replace them, this is a great feature because it seems like other bulbs always go out at the most inconvenient times. Consider your energy efficient options for deck lights and decide if helping the environment is important to you. As you can see, carefully chosen deck lights are essential to setting the overall theme and mood of your deck, patio or balcony. Remember that balancing light disbursement is key in keeping bugs and critters away as well as creating an environment where you and your family and friends will want to stay together for hours.
