Slide the vent's housing to the other side and connect duct with a clamp or duct tape. 5. Attach housing to the joists. As the fan is positioned, the housing's bottom should be flush with the ceiling. 6. The housing should be fastened with screws to the ceiling joist. 7. The bathroom exhaust vent's neutral and ground wires should be connected to the house neutral and ground wires with either electrical tape or wire connectors. 8. The fan's black wire should be connected to the house black wire with electrical tape or a wire connector. 9. The wiring cover plate should be installed with clips or screws that have been provided. 10. Position and connect the fan motor inside the housing. 11. Secure motor with screws. 12. Turn on the power at the main electrical box. 13. Turn on the power switch to make sure everything works well. 14. If your bathroom exhaust vent has either a light or another fixture, install it according to the manufacturer's directions.
