Hypoallergenic dog breeds are steadily gaining popularity nowadays. People are becoming more and more aware that there are certain dogs that are good for their allergies. I'd expect that this would be really great news for people who have deprived themselves of owning dogs. Now, they could indulge their deepest wish of having a nonhuman best friend that would always love them no matter what. Here is a list of the most popular hypoallergenic dog breeds: • Poodles. Usually, when Poodles are mentioned, people start thinking of pampered, high-maintenance dogs with outrageous haircuts. This is not far from the truth since Poodles really do need to be groomed regularly to maintain the condition of their fur. However, not all people know that they are also one of the most intelligent breeds around. In fact, some of them are even used as performers at the circus because they are easily trainable. Their fur, which is what this article is supposed to be all about, is also something to be commended. It could either be soft, coarse, wooly or wavy. They are classified under the non-shedding class, thus considered as hypoallergenic. • Schnauzers. These dogs have a very unique look to them. I even sometime consider them as "men dogs," since they really do look like men with their distinctive bearded snouts. Actually, the name Schnauzer came from the word Schnauze, which means snout in German. Anyway, Schnauzers are under the category of hypoallergenic dogs for, just like Poodles, they are under the non-shedding class. There dogs are highly intelligent and are always on alert. Although they are related to the Terrier family, they do not have the typical Terrier characteristics like being highly excitable and territorial. • Maltese. The Maltese breed is considered as one of the most popular choices for house pets since they have an easy temperament, and of course, they are hypoallergenic. This makes them perfect for families, and even kids. Children are prone to developing allergies along the way, so having a hypoallergenic dog would eliminate that risk. However, you should keep them away from small children because small children tend to play rough with their pets; pulling on their ears and such. This might irritate the little dog and provoke them to snap at the little kids. They do not have that problem with older kids though.
