Prepare as much as you can ahead of time. Often times, you can prepare food prior to cooking by at least a couple days in advance. Sometimes, this can actually let the flavors of what you are making become more "married". You will find that preparing ahead will become a habit that you greatly value.

To cook flavorful veggies that turn out well, use chicken broth. It will keep veggies from getting stuck to the bottom of the pan and add a little flavor. You can make your own chicken broth or you can buy it at most any supermarket at a very low price.

Use cooking oil when you are measuring out things that are sticky. By applying a light coat of oil to your substance, you can make it easier to clean up. Peanut butter and honey can be measured this way as well.

Here are some new tricks to try with oysters. Oysters can be prepared in multiple ways even though they are typically eaten on the half shell with a smidge of lemon juice. Lather a bit of cream on the oysters after you place the opened ones in a broiler pan. Next, give them a healthy sprinkling of freshly-cracked black pepper, some Parmesan cheese, maybe a little bit of parsley, and let them broil until they're lightly browned and bubbling. You can also saute oysters. Coat the oysters in seasoned flour then shallow-fry them in some hot butter until they are golden in color. You can bake oysters while they are still in their shells. Start by placing a casserole dish filled with your oysters, cover them with butter and breadcrumbs, and then bake them in the oven for about five minutes at 425 degrees. Whenever the juices and butter are bubbling hot, you can then serve it alongside a toasted baguette.

When baking crust for pie or tarts, leave them in the oven to bake a little longer than you planned. Rather than pale blonde, they should have a golden caramel color. This deeper color is evidence that the sugar has caramelized in the crust for added sweetness.

Dark greens are really healthy. However, they can be hard to prepare. Greens usually have thick stems that can be a hassle to remove. To turn it into a simple chore, all you need to do is fold the leaf lengthwise, and simply break the stem from the middle. You could also slice the stem off the folded leaf using a knife. Once you unfold the leaf, you will have a nicely unstemmed green.

These little bits of advice can go a long way toward improving your kitchen creations. Try each tip you've learned, even if it is only one time. Practice them and perfect your cooking skills. You can quickly improve your chef skills if you take the time to try these tips.
