Cows fed on grass are known to yield high quality meat compared to those that are fed on growth hormones. Basically, cattle that are fed on grass tend to lead a less stressful life in addition to providing their bodies with the essential vitamins and minerals. If done correctly, grass-fed cattle can become excellent sources of beef. Discussed herein, are tips and guidelines on how to nurture grass-fed cattle: First and foremost, you need to search for breed tat mainly thrives on grass. If this is your first venture, it is recommended that you seek professional advice. By doing so, you will be able to recognize the best breed to rise in your farm land. Next, you need to ensure that your cattle have constant access to both grass and legumes. Whereas grass-fed cows indicate that their source of food is pasture, it is recommended that you supplement their diet using plant proteins. If you can, ensure that they have at least 11% of proteins within their food. During late summer when the amount of protein subsides in plants, it is recommended that you provide your cattle with starch protein. Whenever there is a cow which is sick in the heard, provide it with low amounts of antibiotics. Do not be tempted into using growth hormones when raising your cows. You will only compromise on the quality of their meat. To ensure that your cows are feeding on fresh pasture, it is highly recommended that you rotate the meadow. There are a number of farmers who have the tendency of allowing their poultry (i.e. chickens) into the grazing field so as to assist with the fertilization procedure. Chicken spread the cow droppings around as they search for food to feed on. Ensure that your beef cattle are provided with adequate amounts of water. Note that cows can consume up to twelve gallons of water on a daily basis. You need to keep this in your mind while buying while shopping for water tank to store drinking water for your cattle. If you are rearing beef cattle, make certain that they are provided with adequate pasture. If your intention is to rear grass fed cattle, make certain that they are constantly provide with enough pasture. The amount of grass will hinge on your location as well as the amount of acreage that you have. To minimize the cost of nurturing cows, it is recommended that you grow your own hay.
