I don’t exactly live in the country and I don’t exactly live in the city. I live in a rural subdivision. I live just far enough in the country that I can enjoy peace and quiet but close enough to town to have leash laws for my dogs. My local Animal Shelter is run by the Sherriff Department and they are really good at their job. They may not be able to find the person that broke into my neighbor’s house but can pick up my dog that has wondered out of my yard fifteen minutes ago in nothing flat. My Doberman Pincher was the only dog that needed walking until a couple of months ago. He has a shy bladder and will not take a wee if I am within ten feet of him. To solve this problem I have a long leash for him and life is good. As with all things, life changed and I got another dog. I got a lab mix so he does have some size to him. Now, I get to walk two dogs at a time or walk them separate. If I had nothing else to do with my day I could spend it walking the dogs, but I would get nothing done but spend my days on the side of the road when I walk them separate. To say it got interesting when I tried to walk them together would be an understatement. They both had long leashes and were constantly getting them twisted and tangled up. I spent more time getting them untangled than I did walking. My new dog is also a puller and that even made my walking the dogs experience more difficult. Now if I lived in New York City instead of rural Texas I would have known the answer to my dilemma in an instant. I may know more about salsa than the people in New York but they are a leg up on me on how to walk multiple dogs. After dealing with trying to walk my two dogs I have a lot more respect for the person in the commercial walking several dogs. I am 5’2” and at times I thought I was going to become a human kite. I would come home sore all over more than anywhere else. The dogs were fine but I was beat to a pulp. I have my dogs for protection but by the time I would get home from walking them a mugger looked inviting. I felt that if I could handle these two wild things I could handle anything. I then discovered the wonderful world of couplets and a halti. For less than $35.00, my life has become bliss again. Couplets enabled me to go back to using one leash again. I got the heavy duty chain 2-dog couplets with brass snaps. With this style I can take them out in all types of weather. I also splurged and bought a Bully couplet made with leather for when we went visiting and wanted to strut our stuff. Both of these couplets allow up to 12” between my dogs and that is more than enough. The halti solved the problem with my dog that pulls and is a little more than hard-headed. It puts pressure on his head when he pulls and he self corrects himself. I now enjoy walks with my hairy four legged children. The nightmare experience of just walking them has now turned back into the highlight of my day. Yvonne http://realproductsonline.com
