Pay attention to your health. While joint aches and morning pains are an inevitable part of growing older, if something hurts excessively, theres probably a reason. Regular visits to your doctor and a healthy lifestyle will reduce these pains and allow you to be happier and more active as you get older. To make sure that you do not let aging get the best of you, it is important that you stay in good shape. Your body is going to start experiencing more physical problems as you age if you are out of shape. This does not mean you have to do aerobics everyday--try taking a walk each day or take a job in your neighborhood. Unfortunately, older adults report more pain due to arthritis and strains than any other group. Doctors are recommending that seniors include a calcium and magnesium supplement to their diet as a preventative measure to help reduce pain flair ups. It is not recommended to take the supplements to get rid of pain that people are experiencing as a painkiller. Laugh often and live long. Laughter is very good for you. It keeps your spirits high and keeps the blood flowing. It will increase positive hormones in your body that will help to eliminate some of the toxins in your blood stream. Laugh until you have to gasp for breath. Stay positive about life and growing older. Just because you are getting older does not mean that your life has to end and stop right there. A good thing to do is to stay active with social activities and keep friends and family in your life. You will be happy you did. Oral health is essential to a long life. Even if you do not have teeth anymore, it is still important to go and have regular exams at the dentist so he can check your gums. You can still develop gum disease, oral cancer and other things that can lead to other health problems. Take the time to get to know yourself. Many people do not really know what it is that they enjoy in life. If you take the time to try new things, you may find that you have been missing out on some really wonderful things that this life has to offer you. Find a hobby that you really enjoy. When you arent interested in anything in particular, you can find that your energy levels go much lower and you are giving yourself limits you dont have to have. However, if you find a hobby that you really enjoy, you can easily get into something with a great passion and keep your energy going. Take aspirin every day to prevent cardiac arrest, or "heart attacks". Heart attacks become more of a risk as you get older, and taking one aspirin a day has been found to help avoid them. Check with your doctor first to make sure that an aspirin regimen is safe for you. Change your oils and change your life! Aging should mean less of the bad oils like partially hydrogenated, corn, cottonseed or soybean and more of the good like fish oil, flax oil, olive oil and nut oils! It is a painless change over that can really make a big difference in your overall health and well being, especially as you get older. Instead of driving everywhere that you go, take a walk to the shop if you are within a mile. This will provide you with additional flexibility, which will be very important to your joints for combating the signs of aging. Keep the car in the garage for a day and take advantage of the weather in your area. Alzheimers disease is a common disease. Recognizing it early is the best defense in slowing the disease down. The likelihood of getting Alzheimers disease increases with risk factors as having a family history of the disease, Downs Syndrome, serious head injury in the past or being over 65 years of age. While it is probably something one would rather not think about as one ages, it can be beneficial to be aware of ones mortality. In what sense? The purpose of this is not to dwell on the "end", but rather to make us realize that every day is important, and that life is a gift we should take advantage of in every capacity.
