More people than usual realize they have food sensitivities. Often they will go through their entire lives without knowing that they are particularly sensitive to a certain type of food. Other people recognize their symptoms as those related to an allergy or sensitivity. They know that by limiting or removing the food causing the reaction will result in them feeling better. Who suffers from food sensitivities and what can be done to prevent them? What is Sensitivity to Food? Sensitivity to food results in having certain symptoms that only appears when you have eaten a particular food. Many people are allergic or sensitive to peanuts, shellfish and milk. Symptoms can be as simple as a stomach ache or diarrhea. It can be as complex as arthritis and migraines. Some other symptoms include cluster headaches, hyperactivity, bowel problems, eczema, asthma, fatigue and heartburn. Only a doctor can tell you if your symptoms are due to food sensitivity. If you suspect you are sensitive to food, keep track of what you eat. You can remove food types that you think may be causing your sensitivity. You can also have a test done by an allergy doctor that will pinpoint your allergies. Some allergies can be very serious and cause breathing difficulties. You should refrain from eating any food you have sensitivity to. Common Foods that Cause Sensitivities There are certain foods that seem to cause more sensitivities than others, although you can be allergic to anything.
