After a quick check you can see that sports drinks read allot like soda pop and other sugar flavored drinks. This mean that most sports drink first ingredient is water followed by sugar which is exactly what soda pop and other sweet flavored drinks have as an order of ingredients as well. Sports drinks can and should be replaced by those serious about wanting to take a healthy smart approach. A better choice would be isotonic drinks which are marketed as isotonic water. Sports drinks are often hyped as healthy drinks and can be very misleading. Many big name sports drink and I don't have to name the names, you hear about them on or at almost every big sports event. They sink millions into advertising during these events so that their products are associated with athletes. Sports drink companies even give the sports teams free products for the team for the logo being displayed with them and go so far as to buy score boards and big screens TV's for sports clubs. The point of this is to have these drinks thought of as needed and endorsed by athletes that we all love and admire. This very thing actually ended up with a rebound effect because sports club using these sports drinks begun to realize that they were not that healthy for their athletes. In fact the large amounts of sugars in them tend to make them poor a hydration as well. Sports teams have become increasingly more and more scientific in their approach to what they give their athletes. Real healthy drinks are mostly waters or sports drinks water and isotonic drinks or isotonic fluids. Healthy drinks like isotonic waters have the electrolytes to replenish the depleted electrolytes but are sugar free or very low in sugar. Water is most likely the healthiest drink that we need after a hard physical activity.
