Bolts are essential is bringing together the structure of a car but broken bolts can be equally troublesome for mechanics and automobile workers. It is an issue that has plagued repair shops for ages. Therefore there have been many ways to remove broken bolt and many new tools are still being invented to make the life of the mechanics a little easier. These methods have their own pros and cons and mechanics have their own preferred tools. Whatever be the tool, broken bolt removal is a painstaking process and they consume enormous amounts of time, patience and money. Let us review some of the well known and used methods of the removal of broken bolts. Broken Bolt Extractor Kits: The extractor kit is a useful tool that allows a drill to go in straight and cut the bolt threads. Once the drill bit has been placed the dead bolt can be extracted out. The process technically takes a little less than fifteen minutes but tricky situations can be time consuming. The ability of the tool to drill to the center of the bolt gives it a definite edge over the others. EZ-Out Tool: This is also a popular tool for broken bolt removal. The idea is to drill into the broken bolt, then inserting and twisting the bit so as to lock it. Then you can turn it with a wrench until it comes out. It can work most times but can also leave you with a bigger problem on other times. Left Hand Drill Tool: Another popular way where the bolt is drilled through and it is hoped that the bolt will catch, eventually backing the broken stud out. It is vital to drill through the center or time will be wasted in installing a Helix-coil. Many methods have been used to remove broken bolt, but mechanics mostly prefer the broken bolt extractor kits as they make less wastage of the time and money factor.
