The powerstrokeinjectors are meant for vehicles which operate on diesel. The injectors use a combination of hydraulic injectors of the old diesel engines and the electric injection system of the gasoline operated vehicles. This provides a reliable injection system. But there are some flaws as well in the powerstroke injectors. There are some signs which tells the users of any problem and the needs to rectify them. The first and foremost thing which tells about a problematic injector is the smoke. White smoke comes out of an injector normally but when there is an excessive white smoke coming out, it signifies a loose injector or low compression. Similarly black smoke is also normal in case of hard accelerations but too much black smoke indicates a higher fuel to air ratio. It can also indicate restricted intake or exhaust or a leak in the intake hose. Again, too much blue smoke means that air to fuel ratios is too high. This also signifies that there is a contaminated fuel or a plugged injector. A problem in powerstroke injectors is also noticed when there is difficulty in starting the machine or the machine does not start at all. This results from the use of a bad injector. There could also be a loose or a faulty glow plug, faulty oil pump, leaking injector or simply a computer malfunction. Wastage of power is associated with thick oil or bad inject o-rings. Cleanliness is the most important thing to be followed while working with powerstroke injectors. This will ensure a smooth and better functioning of the injectors. The recesses should be cleaned and all injector washers and heat shields should be removed from the cylinder head. The copper washer should be pasted onto the injector nozzle so that it does not fall off when the injector is inserted into the injector nozzle. The leak off bolts should be tightened but not to the extent that they break off. Plastic protective caps should be placed on all the body parts and leaks should be checked more often.
