A Gentleman On A Date With His Wife - What He Brings - What He Leaves At Home By Fred Fishburne Article Word Count: 612 What a Gentleman Brings on a Date A Plan A gentleman has a well thought out plan for his date, and also has plan B if unexpected changes occur to his original plan, such as, his favorite restaurant is closed or unusually heavy traffic. He is aware of sporting events and road construction that can cause long delays. Flowers A gentleman understands that his wife likes flowers and he knows her favorites. If she likes expensive flowers, then he buys expensive flowers. Money A gentleman brings more money than he will need for the evening and smoothly handles all financial transactions. He does not depend on his credit card without money in his pocket. This could prove to be embarrassing. A Good Attitude A gentleman always brings his best attitude on a date. If he has lost it, he finds it while in the shower. He is willing to always learn something new about his wife/date and appreciates what he has already learned. His Best Look and A Humble Spirit A gentleman dresses to please his wife. If she likes him in casual, then he wears casual and he takes her to a casual place. If she likes to dress up, then he dresses up and takes her to the finest place in town. A gentleman takes his wife to her favorite places and does what she likes, unless she says, Honey, What would you like to do? Kind Words A gentleman has plenty of kind words for his wife at all times, words like, Love, Adore and Beautiful. A Clean Automobile A gentleman cleans his automobile inside and out before going on a date. She is sure to notice as he opens the door for her. He does not put so much leather protectant on the seats that she slides off, nor rubber protectant on the floor mats that her feet slip. He understands that clean is a good smell, and he need not buy cheap fragrance hangers for his rearview mirror. Her perfume will be fragrance enough. An Attentive Ear A gentleman listens to his wife and gets the direction of the conservation from her. What a Gentleman Does Not Bring on a Date His Job He leaves business at the office while on a date with his wife. His Cell Phone A gentleman's cell phone is on silent mode the entire date. His Family A gentleman leaves his family at home and hires a baby sitter for the kids. Neither does he talk about the family the entire time, unless his wife wishes to do so. His Favorite Things to Do A gentleman does not talk about his favorite things to do but, finds out what his wife wants to talk about for the evening. Too Much Cologne A gentleman does not wear heavy cologne. If his cologne is noticed from across the table, it is way too much. A gentleman never announces his presence into a room by his cologne. The Past A gentleman lives his life in the present. He understands that old things have pasted away and all things are new. He keeps most of his conversation in the present. He understands that he may touch on the past and future, but not for the entire evening. He and his wife are together now. On their date, they are creating a fond memory and an expected future. Cluttered Pockets A gentleman does not clutter his pockets with a handful of change and his favorite gadgets, nor does he look like a commando with pockets up and down his pants legs. By following these simple suggestions, a gentleman will have a pleased wife and fond memories. Fred Fishburne has been serving the Lord since 1980.
