We are still answering the questions that a certain angel asked in Psalms 8:4-5, What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him? 5 For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour. As we studied earlier, this man is Jesus, who was made lower than the angels for the suffering of death to redeem man, but is now crowned with glory and honor forever. The Hebrew meaning of crown is a mark of royal exalted rank, to crown a victor, to honor, to adorn. Kings are given crowns to wear, showing there is none higher in rank. Jesus has been given the rank of KING OF KINGS. He is the highest KING. We are told in the book of Revelation that the overcomers have been made kings and priests unto God by Jesus Christ. Revelation 1:6, And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen. Revelation 5:10, And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth. Revelation 3:21, To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne. Throne means, a seat of state having a footstool, a seat of royalty and rule. The word sit in the above scripture is not referring to sit as sitting in a chair, but to be seated as a judge or senator is seated in office. It means to be set there by another. Being seated means he can function in the full authority and privileges of his office. It means to be set as a diamond is set in its setting. In the old covenant, in the earthly High Priest's breastplate were set 12 precious stones, which were taken into the presence of God, as the sin offering was ministered before the Lord. In the new covenant, You and I were set in Christ as He ministered the new covenant before the Father. This is the breastplate of righteousness that the Apostle Paul instructed the Church to put on in Ephesians Chapter 6. As we studied earlier in Hebrews Chapter One, the Father instructed Jesus to sit at His right hand until His enemies be made His footstool. Ephesians 2:6 tells us that we have been raised up together with Christ and made to sit together with Him in heavenly places. We have been given the position of highest rank, because we are seated in Christ. We have the full authority of Jesus Christ in the earth. The last enemy of Jesus that shall be made His footstool is death. It is as good as done now, because Jesus has been raised from the dead. Now men can once again reign in life through faith in Christ Jesus. Death, hell and the grave shall all be cast into the eternal lake of fire at the exact appointed time of the Father, never to be seen again. Man’s reign in life starts the instant he receives the grace of God, through faith in Jesus Christ, which was revealed to him. Paul said that if we suffer with (beside) Him, we shall also reign with (beside) Him. The word reign means to be king, to exercise kingly power. The word with, means beside.
