A banner is often used for advertising and other promotional events. There are a number of mediums that can be used to print them. These days, digital printing is more convenient as a form of printing the promotion instead of by hand because of the capacity to check and recheck the draft for mistakes or redesign it before actually printing it. They are often used to announce something such as a store's promotional activities, an achievement and anything else that anyone wants to promote or announce to everybody. They can be hung anywhere, for example, fences and store ceilings. Although they are usually rectangular in shape and size, they can also be made into other shapes and sizes according to the specifications of customer. Material The material that a banner is usually made of is cloth, vinyl and canvas. These are the more common medium used to produce the promotional advertisements and announcements. They can also be printed on paper but this is too easily ruined by just wind or rain that they are usually used indoors and for just a very short period of time only. Both cloth and canvas have similar properties compared to vinyl. They are both pliable and do not have the shiny sheen to them which may make reading the announcement difficult, which happens with vinyl. The fabric makes reading the announcement easier in any kind of lighting. The fact that they are fabric also means that they are not so stiff and will not retain the creases that they come in when they are folded or transported. The creases can actually tear if the vinyl is not handled properly or folded too much. On the other hand, the banner that is printed on vinyl will retain its color and its clarity for a very long time compared to that of canvas or cloth. The fabric dulls after just several days' exposure to the elements. This material is also easier to clean; wiping it with a moist cloth can easily remove most of the dirt and grime that becomes attached to it. The cloth and canvas will easily retain the dust and grime that it comes in contact with due mainly to its surface. Vinyl is also heavier than fabric which means it may not need to be weighed down to prevent it from flapping in the wind. Putting It Up There are several ways to put up the banner so that passersby and other people will easily notice it. The traditional way is to hang it from the ceiling or between two posts using grommets that are attached to the edges of the material. Smaller shapes and sizes can also be attached to easels, which are specially made to hold them. Velcro is often used to attach them to their desired locations. These are just some of the considerations that are necessary when a business or an individual wants to have a banner made. Consulting with a reputable firm can make the decisions easier.
