Moving from one place to another is not a sinecure and before you can even call a moving company or verhuisbedrijf, there are still loads of stuff to do. Before you know it you could be drowning in your workload while you are not nearly finished and besides the workload, thons of things have to be arranged too. For example, you cannot order the loading truck when you do not even have the boxes to put all your things into. So in order to make your moving trip a success you will have to do the following: make a plan or a checklist of everything you need to do arrange by the time span you should do it. Decide for yourself what your priorities are and what you can do in advance, it is essential for every good mover. A moving checklist is a sort of control device for those entire little things you need to do, but you could forget to do. Making sure whether you mailing address has changed or whether you have called the professional mover are all examples of things to put on the list. A moving checklist is an absolute must for every forgetful mover. Thanks to the checklist you can make sure if everything from administration till delivery is done and finished. That way you can start packing with a clear conscience. Example of a moving checklist: 3 months in advance: • Ask for some time off at work. • Inform yourself about the transmission of you internet and phone provider. • Make sure you have the right moving transportation. • Order new flooring and wall covering for your new house. • Contact new schools for a transfer (only when you have school attending children). • Gather information about the new district. One month in advance: • Point out the final moving date. • Declaim the gas provision at your former address. • Declaim the water provision at your former address. • Request gas provision at your new address. • Request gas provision at your new address. • Check your meter readings. Two weeks in advance: • Inform your municipal services that your are moving. • Inform your doctor that you are moving. • Inform your social security agency that you are moving. • Start clearing everything and dismiss what you do not longer need. • Provide all the things you are going to move with a label, that you know what box is filled with what kind of stuff. And so the list continues until everything is done. Of course, this is only an example list and each moving will have its own priorities. But to those who already no longer see the woods through the trees, contact a professional moving company to assist you while you are moving. So in short: Do start planning your move early. Allow plenty of time to sort through your belongings, to get rid of what you don’t want, and to pack. You’ll also need advance notice in order to ensure that the mover is available on the dates you want.
