Baby Stores Can Be Educational Outings For Your Kids

Business
If you need to get some shopping done at your local baby stores, you can turn the experience into an educational outing for your child. With a bit of creativity, kids can learn and have fun, and you can get your shopping errands done. Depending on the age of your child, there are many easy ways to teach and entertain your youngsters at the same time. Here are some ideas for a variety of age groups.

The Infants of the Group

Babies can be bundled up in cozy front, side or back packs in order to move around the store comfortably with Mommy or Daddy. The motion of walking and moving around will soothe an infant because it will feel like the good old days of being in the womb. If there's music playing in the aisles of your favorite baby stores, swaying and dancing will help your tot learn more about trust and rhythm. Wee ones that are rocked to music by their caregivers from day one will learn to move more easily when they rise up on their own two legs. When these young ones are a few months old, they will begin to vocalize sounds and imitate "Motherese." Pick up items and name them as if speaking to your little one. He or she won't repeat your words initially but eventually, you'll hear something that sounds amazingly like "ball," "book," "mall" and many more.

Toddlers are Eager to Learn

Tots who are in the one to three-year-old age bracket are learning machines. They are eager to stroll through the aisles and explore everything. They can be contained in a stroller or walked with a bit of handholding. If you name the items in the store as you pass them, they can repeat the words with you and increase their vocabulary. "Hat," "shoes," "P.J.s" are not just items to purchase, they're vocabulary-building words.

Preschoolers are Sponges

For the three to five-year-olds in your home, there are multitudes of ways to soak up knowledge at the baby stores. Playing a game of "I Spy" and will entice them to find items in various colors. "I spy something red," will have them identifying the toy fire truck or winter boots. It's also a good time to give them practice time with counting. Ask them to count out 5 books in the preschool book section. Have them count the car seats in the display or the tee shirts hanging from hangers.

Elementary School Kids

If your grade-schooler is with you shopping for younger siblings at the baby stores, he or she can help you compare prices and find the best deals. Ask your older child to identify price tags on items you're looking for and let them figure out which one has the highest cost vs. the lowest cost. Discuss why budget is only one part of the equation when shopping for quality goods.

Shopping at the baby stores in your area can be a fun learning experience for kids of all ages. Infants, toddlers, preschoolers, grade-schoolers, and even moms and dads will have a better time when some creative focus is placed on expanding their brain power.

There are many baby stores in michigan, but only one will offer the completely progressive approach to shopping and learning to the benefit of your children. Area residents should visit http://www.myurbantoddler.com today to see the difference.
