Okay, time to face the great big elephant in the room. Money - we all use it, need it and most of us want more of it. It's the thing that keeps families, communities, business and the world ticking over. It's provides food, clothing, shelter, hospitals, roads, flushing toilets, running water and electricity. Oh and of course it provides fun, enjoyment, adventure, choice, options, the ability to help others and the ability to set your-self free from fear, worry and victimhood. I'm going to say that last bit again because it deserves to be repeated. Money provides you with the ability to help yourself, help others and frees you from fear, worry and victimhood. And here's the bottom line, money will set you free. You may agree, you may not... The objective of this report is to look at money and your attitude towards it. After all your attitude and beliefs about money dictates how much you have. I believe this in turn dictates what your life will be like and the life of your children, grand-children and others around you. So, do you have enough, do you want more? Do you believe that wanting more just means you're greedy? Or do you think that more is better and we should all strive to be as wealthy as we can. After all the more wealth there is the more we can help our family, neighbours, community and indeed help the world be a better place. Money does indeed make the world go round. If you have more of it you will spend more of it. This puts more into business coffers everywhere. This means more people are employed and more business is created. Money is constantly moving, it's never still. It's full of energy and I believe it is indeed a very good thing. It fires us up and gets us excited. But is it actually money that does this? Or is it the things we imagine we can do, be or have with money. Mmm, I know what I think. What would you do if you had all the money you wanted? A welcoming, cosy family home with a well fed, happy family inside certainly fires me up. Holidays with the family, fun time with the grand kids and lots of time with good husband. Being able to help when helps needed... and what about the cupboard full of beautiful shoes, and the garage with the gorgeous little sports car in it. This is what fires me up, what gets your motor running? If you are anything like me you have your own set of principles that you operate from. I hadn't really given mine any thought until recently but here they are for your consideration... 1) The place for change is within you. 2) No judgement, criticism of yourself or others. 3) Be kind to yourself and to others. 4) Do what's right. 5) We're all doing the best we can. Mmm. No mention of money there, well not directly anyway. But I think for the purposes of this report I'll add another temporary principle, just so we're clear. And let's make it about me. It's my responsibility to ensure that I am as wealthy as I can possibly be. To ensure that I enjoy all that this wonderful world of ours has to offer and to grow and learn as much as I need to while I'm doing this. Before we go any further can you see that many of the 5 principles above are covered here. Okay, and I'm sure you'll agree that it's way better to be 'rich' than it is to be struggling under the burden of debt and lack. But maybe I'm wrong. Maybe I'm making assumptions that aren't correct. Maybe my belief challenges yours but I would invite and encourage you to stick with me a little longer and all will become clear. Okay, onward. OK, Here We Go... I'm going to guess that of course you've heard that good old chestnut, and I've said it myself in the past, "money doesn't buy happiness". Now this may be true in essence, but I'm yet to meet a poor but genuinely happy person. Or at least a person who wouldn't benefit from some extra cash, or the things that money can provide. But this report isn't going to address the ins and outs of being happy without cash in your pocket. That's another report for another day. What we're delving into in this report is the idea that being rich is good! There is said it out loud - BEING RICH IS GOOD! If you're with me on this then this will be an easy read for you. And I'm pretty sure I have a few ideas that will help propel you to even greater riches. However maybe you aren't with me on this at all. As we do all carry round our own beliefs about money. Sometimes they're working against us and keeping us from the abundance, fun and adventure we hanker after and imagine ourselves having. Could yours be doing that? And what happens when we hang on to these beliefs so determinedly is to create masses of excuses to avoid, resist and reject the good that is right there waiting for us. Do you carry around ideas such as... • Money doesn't buy happiness • Money is the root of all evil ( very popular ) • Wealthy people get their money by dishonest means • You have to work long and hard to be wealthy • I'm not clever enough to be wealthy • You don't have to have money to be happy • It's too late for you to get wealthy • There are more things in life that can create happiness than money Still not convinced, well read on, I have more! Okay, let's try this. You with more... what? A happy, contented and fulfilled you brings so much good into the world. Your happiness splashes onto everything around you. Think of it like compounding interest. Every little bit of happiness and joy that you create, (whatever form it takes) is like a small wave that just grows and grows. The more small waves you create the sooner you have a massive wave. And just imagine that - a massive wave of love, optimism, happiness and fun. Now that's true riches!! And of course we all know, you can do that without money. But here's my confession. It's not about the money, but you already knew that didn't you? It's about the amazing changes and growth that you experience while you stretch yourself and try new things in your endeavours to enrich your life. It's about the confidence, optimism and adventurous and brave spirit that you'll communicate to others as you grow and learn. That's what it's about. And while you're doing this the collateral benefit is an abundant and rich life for you and your family, that's got to be a good thing doesn't it? Step One Find a quiet place where you can be uninterrupted for 15 minutes. Put your alarm on. Shut your eyes and take 3 deep breaths. In through your nose and out through your mouth. There is scientific research that shows breathing through your nose calms and centres you more efficiently. Now quietly think about your attitude towards money. Step Two As above but this time think about the life you would really like to have. Are you living it now. Really let yourself go and explore all of your most secret dreams. Lift those rocks and look under them. You know the ones I mean. The places where you keep your most secret stuff, the things you think will never happen. Get them out for a minute. Hug them and love them... Step Three Time for evaluation. Do your thoughts in Step 1 support your thoughts in Step 2? If yes, brilliant! If not at least you now know and can start making the changes to your current set of beliefs. Peace and love to you. Hi there, my name is Sue Girdler.
