Noise or interferences are quite common in various electrical appliances or devices. These unwanted agents also cause troubles for people using the electrical devices and to the device itself. Noise can alter the performance of these devices and can modify the output. Therefore, it is very important to control these unwanted agents which may cause serious problems. A device which is quite familiar to people and used at various places is inverter based on photovoltaic system. The DC side of this inverter also generates noise which can be reduced by standard DC Filter series which can be used in photovoltaic systems. DC filters are of great use in these circumstances to save damage and protect the device. These filters are the only rescue systems under these circumstances and are not only known for ensuring the EMC compliance but are also known to enhance the overall reliability of the entire PV system. It also imparts high temperature resistance to simplify the systems and thus to reduce the total amount of energy needed for cooling. DC filters are available in different variants and forms to match the requirements of different devices which need noise control. These are also designed with a specification to handle current from 25A to 1500A and that at +55°C ambient temperature. The voltage range can also be elevated till 1.2 kVdc. One can source these devices in standard and medical versions with screw clamps for types up to 150A, while another version is also known for copper bars for types upward of 250A. The rectifier applications which are used nowadays include choke that are used as better alternative to capacitor filtering due to various reasons. EMI Filters These devices have added advantage over conventional filters and under ordinary conditions these rectifier circuits with high voltage requirements for which conventional capacitors are expensive and also bulky. It is also used in reversible DC motor controls where a DC filter with choke works to reduce the motor loss while improving the motor torque. New concept for low frequency chokes is supported by the in-depth knowledge of toroidal design. In this design, filtering with choke needs only a small capacitor or no capacitor at all. The design and mechanism of choke filtering has added advantage that the VA rating of the rectifier transformer is reduced to 1.1 times the DC powers from about 1.5 times the DC power as for capacitor filter rectifiers. The design is to benefit the consumer as well as appliances.
