Chinese Acrobats and Their Special Characteristics

Crafts
Chinese acrobats are the most beautiful performers to watch because of the arts enchanted history, eloquent performance, and unique essence. Its characteristics are summarized below:

Chinese Acrobatics Stresses Basic Training

Performers are trained to stand on both their head and their hands, and work hard to perfect their aerobic skills.

Daring Performances and Feats of Strength

The art of Chinese acrobats is clever, precise and accurate. The performer’s ability to rope-dance on a group of stacked benches situated on a plank demonstrates their excellent skill of being able to retain their balance by stabilizing their bodies.

Chinese Acrobats Maintain the Tradition of Ancient Splendor

This type of conjuring flourished during 618 - 907. The main difference between Chinese acrobatics and Western is that Western acrobatics create magic with sound effects, lighting and stage props while Chinese acrobats put their efforts into their performance using loose gowns to cover an array of objects that includes dishes.

Chinese Acrobats and Juggling

Performers are able to juggle heavy and light objects effortlessly using their feet. This form of juggling is done predominantly by women as they lay on a specific platform. The acrobats manipulate various objects that weigh over 100 pounds ranging from silk umbrellas, wine buckets, ladders, planks, drums, and porcelain jars. As well, the artists have the uncanny ability to juggle these items so quickly that the objects are often unrecognizable.

Physical Strength and Nimble Somersaults Performed by Ancient Chinese Acrobats

Performing somersaults requires astonishing strength physically when doing them off a pole. During the Tang Dynasty, acrobat’s balanced poles on their head as 18 other artists performed areal feats.

Martial Arts and Chinese Acrobats

Martial Arts Routines are a typical component of Chinese acrobatics. At times artists during the performance look like fish swimming in water, birds flying, and butterflies dancing.

Chinese Acrobats Reproduce Daily Life

Artists perform acts that closely resemble daily activities by using work related objects and tools as their props. This includes hats, bowls, ropes, ladders, chairs, tables, jars, and umbrellas. Some acts are based on activities related to actions such as lassoing cattle or horses, skipping rope and driving carts.

Chinese Acrobats use Traditional Handicrafts as Props These props include porcelain plates and jars that are decorated with colorful compositions of phoenixes and dragons or skillfully decorated silk rugs and umbrellas. This not only makes the performance beautiful to watch it also displays the exquisite beauty of traditional handicrafts.

The Adaptability of Chinese Acrobat Performance Venues

The performance venue and number of performers is flexible with Chinese acrobatics. They can be staged on the street, in squares or theaters, and even in a small living room. The number of artists necessary varies from one to 100 performers. This adaptability has allowed the Chinese acrobatic art to develop throughout the ages.

As well, Chinese acrobats have carried on a strict system of using a master and apprentice. Current Chinese acrobats study an art that has been handed down for generations. As a result, performers respect and love their masters and the profession. Through the years they have done a lot to preserve the art.
