The IIA Certified Financial Services Auditor (CFSA) exam is for those who wish to hone their financial services knowledge and skills further. CIA (Certified Internal Auditors) is the globally acclaimed and accepted internal auditor certification with various IIA computer-based auditing tests. The computer-based IIA-CFSA test that is now offered worldwide and available to be taken all-year round has specific requirements an applicant must fulfill in order to sit for the exam. The candidate must have a bachelor’s level education for becoming a IIA Certified Financial Services Auditor. If the education level is not of bachelor’s degree, two years of post-secondary schooling and three years of auditing experience, both with accredited institution and organization can be substituted for a bachelor’s degree in education. For IIA Certified Financial Services Auditor exam, the applicant’s two years experience in the financial services auditing field is mandatory and for that Experience Verification Form is a requirement, but the candidate can sit for the exam before submitting the experience verification form provided that the form is submitted afterwards, otherwise the result will not be issued if all of the requirements are not fulfilled. As per the Code of Ethics established by the IIA, the applicant for the IIA Certified Financial Services Auditor exam is expected to exhibit high moral character, work ethics and behavioral excellence. Moreover, the candidate must submit a Character Reference Form, either signed by CIA, CFSA, CGAP, CFSA, CRMA, or the form signed by his/her own supervisor. Since 2010, the eligibility period for IIA-CFSA exam has been set to a period of four years, in which the candidate is required to complete the certification process. In case of failure to do so in the given time frame, the fees of the test and all exam parts will be annulled. One of the requirements is confidentiality; the applicants are required to keep the contents of the exam as confidential. In some countries, the necessary requirements for CFSA exam also include being a member of the IIA. Though this may not be mandatory in every applicant’s case, nevertheless it’s an additional advantage one can have, as the IIA members receive privileges such as discount offers, access to CFSA preparation material, and latest news.
