The FA Cup is the oldest association football competition in the world. In 1872, Wanderers Football Club won the first title in the history of FA Cup football. The record for the most wins is held by Manchester United with 11 triumphs, followed by Arsenal with 10 and Tottenham Hotspur with 8. The FA Cup is held by Wigan Athletic, who defeated Manchester City 1-0 in the 2013 final. FA Cup Football in the 1890s The professional teams from the Football League dominated the FA Cup in the 1890s. The FA Cup Finals changed venue in 1893. Crystal Palace was now the new home, since the Kennington Oval was too small. Blackburn Rovers continued their fine form from the 1880s and won the first two finals in the 1890s. Eight different teams won the FA Cup in this decade. Only Blackburn and Aston Villa won more than once. Club of the decade: Aston Villa Football Club was formed in March 1874. Aston Villa lost the 1892 final against West Bromwich Albion but they won the title 1895 and 1897. This was FA Cup title number two and three, Aston Villa also won in 1887. Player of the decade: Fred Spiksley spent eleven seasons at Wednesday scoring 100 goals in 293 league appearances. Spiksley scored twice in the 1896 final for Wednesday in 2-1 victory against Wolverhampton Wanderers. Spiksley played 7 caps and scored 5 goals for England and helped them win the British Home Championship twice (1893 and 1898).
