Cost may seem to be an immediate consideration when deciding which type of flooring to install: granite flooring tiles, limestone tile, or quartz. However, cost should not be the only reason you may choose granite-flooring tiles over quart flooring or a limestone tile. There are several other factors you should consider before bringing home any shipment of tile, even if you did get your limestone tile cheaply. Where do you plan on installing the flooring, be it granite flooring tiles or another material? If you are planning to install tile in your bathroom, a limestone tile may not be ideal, because granite tiles can absorb water if they are not properly sealed. Quartz flooring may be an option too, because it is semi-hard and if stained with epoxy, it can withstand heavier traffic and is resistant to scratching. High-traffic areas with dogs and children Limestone tile may be a good option if you have children or dogs underfoot; however, it may be best to avoid granite-flooring tiles in this area. This is because, while granite is hard and is not spill resistant. It may absorb moisture and ruin quickly, if it has not be properly treated and sealed to protect the granite flooring from water or other spills. Is quartz flooring a better option? It may be an option if parents are comfortable with the higher price and the fact quartz flooring is man-made. While granite is comprised of granite, feldspar and quartz, quartz flooring is 93 percent quartz. It can be a cheaper alternative rather than paying for natural granite. However, quartz may not be the best options for high traffic areas such as kitchens, because it can be scratched by dogs’ hard toenails; otherwise, quartz will remain nice. Unlike granite, quartz when used as flooring is not porous and doesn’t stain. Granite, on the other hand, does both of these. However, this does not mean granite is not a good choice for flooring. It simply means you must weigh what is the best flooring choice for your family, whether it is granite, quartz or limestone. If cost really is a factor and you cannot afford the $60 to $100 a square foot it may cost to install either granite flooring or quartz, limestone tile is a better option. It is also much cheaper and easier to care for.
