There are moments when we experience different levels of pain in our body. Most of the time, the pain we feel is bearable and won't last long. However, whenever we feel a severe type of pain, we usually find a cure to stop the grievous discomfort once and for all. Some people say that sciatica treatments are ineffective, others says that there is no cure. But in contrast to that, there is a cure for sciatica. The reason why people come up with that kind of statement is because they didn't treat the ailment properly, in which they have a misconception of treating sciatica as being a similar method to that of regular back pain. Treating tooth pain is different from having a headache, and the same is true when distinguishing sciatica from a backache. Backache medications target the muscle tissues, while sciatica is not a pain from muscles but rather an inflammation of the nerve itself. Indeed, it is commonly known that pain relievers often have no effect in relieving sciatica pain. So then, what is the real cure for sciatica? Actually, there are various kinds of treatments for sciatica. However, the treatment still depends on how severe the sciatica is. There are different kinds of pain levels which will clarify how the sciatica must be treated. For minor cases of sciatica, you just need to have minimal treatments like bed rest and physical therapy exercises. Bed rest is a good approach for minor cases of sciatica. Some sciatica patients have this injury when they put too much pressure on their lower back. The tendency is to compress the lumbar and sacral nerves specifically the L4, L5, S1, S2, and S3 nerve roots. Bed rest can relieve minor cases of sciatica by reducing the inflammation of an irritated sciatic nerve. Physical Therapy is another effective treatment for sciatica, but it must be done by experts so that nothing will go wrong. Exercising the muscles or the portion of the body which relates to the pain will help offer some relief. Applying a hot compress to the specific part where the pain is felt will actually help in dilating the blood vessels. Dilation is very good for compressed nerves because the hot or warm sensation will dilate the nerves and the tendency is to have good blood circulation and oxygenate the nerves. Experts also believe that nerve manipulation for acute sciatica is a good remedy. Compressed and irritated nerves on the lumbar and sacral aspects of the spine will be manipulated and balanced in order to avoid the overlapping that causes compression. However, this kind of surgery is still somewhat experimental because there is not 100% assurance that a positive result will ensue when undergoing to this process. It is the patients' decision to take the risk of having this kind of treatment for their severe sciatica. The most important point is to be proactive and keep trying various methods until you find the right combination of approaches that cure your sciatic pain.
