Behind The Scenes - London Event Management A New Way Of Seeing The Best Of London After another fabulous team building weekend, I think I need an extra cup of coffee to get this Monday morning blog on the go! After seeing all the employees dancing the night away with no lack of refreshments I'd say I'm not the only one struggling to get going. For us at Templeton Event Management, the weekend started on Friday evening with the preparations to make sure the weekend was truly unforgettable. After one of our favourite restaurant's owner lost his laptop, I started my workload by printing the much-needed table plans and event requirements for the Saturday evening gala dinner. As this was hosted for eighty-five diners, you can imagine the work put into it! My colleague Robin took the train to the lovely cathedral city of Lincoln for 07:30. Robin overlooked the smooth transfer of our good people from luxury coach to Westminster Pier London - where our very smart caterer was waiting; fully loaded with bacon rolls, tea and coffee. We all arrived at Greenwich together, where half the party disembarked; some to wander around Greenwich market, others to stay with our guide "James the magnificent" to wonder at the sights and stories of the Old Royal Naval College. The remainder of the group continued on to North Greenwich, where we took a 360 flight on the Emirates Airline cable car. This must-do for any visitor to London included our hosts in each capsule speaking about the incredible sights below. These included the "belly of the beast" i.e. the banking sector in the city of London, the Thames barrier, The 02 Arena (formerly the Millenium Dome), The Excel centre and London City Airport (where by co-incidence one of the engineers travelling with us was involved in the development of this innovative project). Later that evening.... Returning to Westminster Pier following our sight-seeing trip, our group headed off to our smart Kensington hotel "The Millennium Gloucester". Check-in had one or two bumps (which were swiftly corrected) and we were all off for afternoon tea at the infamous "Goring Hotel". A truly lavish experience!Our evening gala dinner took place at Ishtar, Crawford Street, W1. Arrival at Ishtar is always a positive experience. Visitors senses are immediately excited by the aroma from its traditional Turkish open charcoal grill. We continued to our private function room - where our group created a smart, relaxed and jovial atmosphere. Both Robin and I felt privileged to be part of this wonderful experience in our capacity as event organisers. The wine flowed and food was served all to the gentle sound of a lone musician playing his guitar in the background. Later dancing continued, with some more nimble than others, but all with the capacity to enjoy themselves. Some stayed late and some stayed later! Robin and I would like to thank our team for their effort including Elsa, James, Tom, Engin, The two Seans and Seamus. On a side note, the missing laptop showed up alive and well on Sunday afternoon.
