Seven Useful Accessories You'll Want For Your UTV Besides A Windshield

Automotive,Entertainment,Recreation & Leisure
Enjoying your UTV to the max may mean keeping your load light. Whether you enjoy exploring, escaping on a dirt road to nowhere, or hunting and camping with your vehicle, there are still some UTV accessories you will want to have on hand to make your vehicle function as you want it to.

It goes without saying that your number one accessory is a windshield. You probably wouldn't ride on a UTV in a suit, but that doesn't mean that you want to be covered in mud and snack on insects. Choosing a full windshield, or perhaps one that tilts, as well as a back windshield will cut down on some of the dirt and debris that blows up.

Accessories For Health And Safety

Additional accessories will protect your health and safety regardless of the situation you are in.

1. A helmet will protect your head from debris flying up from the road. Some states like California require both a helmet and seatbelts for recreational vehicles like UTVs. While many drivers regard this as an intrusion on their freedom, supporters argue that helmets can protect against head injuries that occur if a vehicle tips over or if rocks and debris blow up from the road. Department of Transportation-approved models are lightweight and include ventilation openings for cooling and comfort, an adjustable visor and a chinstrap.

2. Protecting your eyes with goggles is a common sense safety measure. You don't buy a UTV so you can drive five miles an hour on a city street, so you want to protect your eyes from stones, dirt, and foliage that you will encounter on rough adventures.

3. Since getting stuck is often part of the deal when you are operating your UTV off-road, you need a winch to pull yourself out of sand, water, mud, and other tough spots. It will also be helpful if you need to assist another driver, and if you are a hunter who plans to bring home big game, you will need a winch to pull your trailer as well.

4. Your tires are always at risk on the trail. AAA doesn't respond in the wild, so make sure you have a tire repair kit that includes an inflator, tools, rubber cement, and more to get you back on the road.

Nice-To-Have Extras

5. Carrying along snacks, extra clothes, binoculars, and other things you will need on the trail requires a sturdy, heavy-duty cargo bag. It will keep your carry-alongs dry and give you more storage space.

6. Adding a headlight or spotlight is essential early in the morning or late at night, especially for hunters and campers. Check your state laws as come don’t allow spotlights.

7. Want to give your UTV a utilitarian purpose? Add accessories such as a snow plow blade or tiller attachment. Either can be useful on your property and help you get the job done. Adding a trailer will make it easier to haul things if you use your UTV for construction site jobs and more.

You bought your UTV for fun, but adding a few accessories can make it safe and convenient.
