The two people I’m comparing today are: |
Jeff Bezos and Elon Musk
Let’s examine them both. First up, the world’s richest man, Mr. Bezos.
He seems like the typical C-suite executive. He’s almost always in a suit and keeps his interviews professional. And as you can probably tell by the way he runs Amazon, this guy is all about keeping things efficient, even if it’s at the expense of their employee’s well-being, apparently.
If you’re a warehouse worker and your feet’s in pain from walking all shift long? No problem, there are some vending machines placed inside the building that dispense over-the-counter pain medication.
If you need to use the bathroom? No time for that, you have to keep those packages moving. Pee in a bottle and drink less water.
I think you get the picture by now. Don’t get me wrong, Tesla’s work environment is similar. There’s high stress and employee burnout.
But unlike Amazon’s ex-CEO, Elon Musk has a different public image.
If you watch any of his interviews, you can tell he’s not afraid to show his personality. There will always be some kind of humorous comment inserted throughout.
Some people even refer to him as the King of Sarcasm and Irony out of all the other CEOs.
And the way he does business is unusual too, but in an entertaining way.
If you take all his car model letter names and put them together, they spell S3XY.
The starting price of the Model S dropped to $69,420.
He sold a flamethrower under The Boring Company for whatever reason.
He sold Tesla brand tequila after making a joke about it in 2018.
Personally, if I were in charge of the cool business kids table and there was only room for one more person, hands down, I’d pick Musk or Bezos.
You can learn a lot of marketing lessons just by observing him.
Likewise, you can learn a thing or two about email copywriting by picking up a copy of my book, How to Become an Email Titan.
