Ever since I was a child, when I didn’t even know what travelling is all about my father took us to an expedition to the Himalayas. Most of the times, we went on a pilgrimage to places like Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri, Yamnotri, etc. But on the way I could see and appreciate the beauty with which God has created such a thing. Away from the hustle bustle of the city, when you see feel the calmness and the serenity in the lap of the Himalayas, is something that I find very difficult to express in words. The beauty is unexplainable and it pulls you towards it like a magnet. Earlier, about 10 to 12 years ago night driving in the mountains was allowed, even though it was a little unsafe but I find myself lucky to have my share of adventure by travelling at night. That one day we saw a lioness with her two cubs. That moment was absolutely nerve chilling for all of us sitting in the car at that time. You might get hundreds of experiences during your Indian holidays, but those 15 minutes in the car and a lioness in front of us is untellable. This is something that you can never get to see even on a jungle safari in any country that you can possibly imagine. The mountains have always been my favorite place to go to, because it gives you the best relaxation with a taste of adventure if you like it. Because it is nature after all, this is completely unpredictable. There was one time on our way back from Badrinath; we went to this place called Aulley. This place is famous for skiing. That one time was my first and till now my last ski experience, but I can remember that day quite vividly. A piece of advice that I would like to share believe it or not skiing is not as easy to do as it looks on the television screen. It takes a lot of effort and rigorous practice to master this art. No matter how bad I was at skiing, the snow covered mountains simply made my day. Your vacation in India would not be complete without a visit to the Himalayas. They has a stock of destinations which attract the tourists from all over the world. If you like to trek, then you could go to Gaumukh and even ahead on the Bhagirathi peak. Gaumukh is 18 kilometers above the valley of Gangotri and Gangotri Glacier is the source of the holy river Ganga. That trekking belt is also quite exciting and amazing; it will really test your strength as well as patience. Your character is what matters when you go on trips such as these. Either you could go to the medicinal hot spring and relax or you could go for an adventure, which the Himalayas are filled with.
